Bohemian Cooperatives

About

The Bohemian Cooperatives is a climate justice initiative that has developed out of Bohemian Football Club.

We are working to ensure that the climate transition creates opportunities for all people to live better, healthier lives, underpinned by good jobs and a democratic local economy.

To do this, we are working to create a local community wealth building ecosystem that will ensure climate action is good for our community as well as the planet.

Bohemian Football Club

Bohemian Football Club, founded in 1890, is Dublin’s original league club and one of Ireland’s most storied teams. Based at Dalymount Park since 1901, we became a founding member of the League of Ireland in 1921.

We are, and have always been, fan-owned, and volunteering by members remains central to how it is run. Our one-member, one-vote structure makes Bohs a community-owned cooperative, an increasing rarity in a football ecosystem that is becoming ever more financialised.

Our community work is a core expression of our values and has been central to the clubs work for many years. Since 2023, it has been guided by a formal Community Strategy. An independent report by Whitebarn Consulting estimates that this work generates €8.5 million in social value each year.
