Levelling the Playing Field
Levelling the Playing Field was a research initiative to explore why Bohs members and our wider community struggle to access solutions to make their homes warmer.
It built on one particular finding from the Football for Climate Justice Fan Survey – which found that 42% of Bohs respondents reported having difficulty paying their electricity at least some of the tome. To act on this issue, the findings suggested providing access to clear info from reliable sources, trusted contractors, and fan-friendly finance. It’s climate action that feels local, practical, and doable.
About the Project
Levelling the Playing Field is a collaboration between Bohemian FC and Friends of the Earth.
It shows how sports clubs can move climate action from policy talk to real upgrades in people’s homes – using member listening, expert partners, and a step-by-step plan for community-led solutions, from credit union finance to vetted installers and a Sustainable Energy Community pathway. Launched at Leinster House in February 2024, the report offers a template other clubs can adopt.
